John Leonard

Land Supervisor

John joined the Catapult team in 2022. A native Texan and the 4th generation member of an oil and gas family, he brings more than 14 years of experience to the team as a land analyst and landman, with experience in most US oil- and gas-producing basins. John has worked across the industry for both exploration and production (E&P) companies and mineral and royalty firms, bringing deep experience in land administration, leasing, and acquisitions. He is a member of the AAPL, multiple local chapters of Landmen Associations, NADOA, and the NARO.

John is Catapult’s Land Supervisor and is involved in the day-to-day land administration of Catapult’s assets. From acquisitions, to leasing, to division orders, to ensuring proper payment, John plays a role in all. His work and dedication to each new challenge is recognized and appreciated by all of his coworkers. He loves the friendly, team atmosphere amongst the entire company, the challenge of building something new, and the value the company places on each employee.

Outside of Catapult, John is a cattle rancher, pecan farmer, and avid outdoorsman. He enjoys spending his time with his wife, daughter, and two dogs, as well as riding horses, playing golf, hunting, fishing, and spending quality time with family and friends.
